KETTERING FAMILY EDUCATION CENTER
CARILLON HISTORICAL PARK
Two-story addition to existing historical museum celebrating the Dayton region’s unique innovations
and entrepreneurial spirit.
Addition provides new grand entry for Carillon Historical Park, including parking, covered vehicular drop-off,
spacious lobby and expanded gift shop.
Addition houses the original Deeds Barn, where Charles Kettering and his “Barn Gang” developed the
first reliable ignition system for automobiles.
Addition includes atrium rotunda with celestory lighting from cupola above. Rotunda houses a
children’s carousel with Dayton-themed inventions in lieu of horses.
Entire building, both existing and addition, uses an energy-efficient heating and cooling system
featuring water-source heat pumps and geothermal wells.
Design-Build collaboration between Wilcon Corporation and Roll & Associates, Inc.
